I'm looking for something simple i can make on the bot for the receptionists and my physical therapist. Nothing too personal but something that says thank you.

I'm thinking about something like a small box, maybe musical box or even something all together different. I've gone thru both my custom wooden scrollsaw boxes books and gone to http://stevedgo.ipower.com/cat/ and nothing has jumped out at me.
I know some of you make things like this and thought you might have suggestions, or links, or patterns that you could share.

Also i had a link at one time to a place for musical movements. I think it was klockit but would like to know of others prices and experience?:D

you can always make a personalized card holder. You can add personal or buisiness names or even logos.

easy box 2 inch walnut or cheery remove the center (same as the outside cut) Then cut the outside either oval, round or octangular. sand finish put flocking in the bottom then cut the lid outside same as outside of box then step in and cut the inside the same as the inside hole . jack can send you a drawing.

How about the Vectric massagers or perhaps a slighly smaller version of Mikes Paradise box? I have just finished six of his new box joint boxes using contrasting timber. Looks stunning and just the right size for a small gift. Chrissy is messing with Japanese symbols on the lids of the next lot. Its rather weird that things are super quiet on both forums on this new joint?

...Its rather weird that things are super quiet on both forums on this new joint?

I have a couple additional/unique ideas that will incorporate this joint...perhaps will stimulate some folks to do things I haven't thought of yet. I'm still excited about the possibilities!

Maybe crank out some nice door signs? Coat them with marine Poly?
You know, just a big 3D model on a nicely figured background with the folk's family name on it, maybe V-carved into a 3D ribbon on the bottom?
Super easy, you could make a bunch in one setup, and everyone loves them.

I'm leaning toward some type of small musical box. I ordered 4 musical movments from klockit today. I don't want to make something large like a jewelry box but something probably 5 or 6" diameter.

Regarding inside cutting strategies, i seem to recall someone saying to cut a profile toolpath around the perimeter to full depth FIRST , before pocketing out the remainder on the inside. It's been a year since my last box so i don't remember how i did it last time.

Also before doing that i was going to do something on the outside diameter via the indexer like maybe some type of weave pattern.
