My dog went fishing this morning, he caught a 5 foot 11 inch 210lb sucker. I was working on my deep sea fishing rig. My dog saw the cute red and white bobber decided he wanted to play. He yanked the line though my hand and the hook went clear to the bone and off to the side of my middle finger. I tried to man up and finish pushing it on through the finger, but could not get it to go any further. I cut the large jig off and drove 2 hours to the hospital, where it took the Doctor and two nurses a hour to remove the hook. do not mix and match dogs and rods and reels.. lol.. My doctor told me that I could not use sign language for at least a week. So I guess those idiots that drive around in the snow will have to do with out my instructions this week. lol

I had a thirty four pound stripper decide he wanted out the boat about the time I was removing the hook (A treble hook at that) and it went through my thumb and as you know you can not pull it back out and I did not have anything to cut the hook with so it made for a long ride to the boat landing.
I feel your pain and hope all is well.

Actually not in any pain. Had I been able to push it on through the finger I would have but I could not keep the finger stiff enough to do it on my own. Had I been able to I would not have gone to the ER at all. I have dealt with much worse wounds, (gun shot wound to the left leg.) I am pretty good when dealing with pain, part of my training. when I took the round to the left leg and hit the ground I rolled figured where the sniper was and took my shot, he was not as lucky as I was.

So I'm a little confused as to the moral of the story.
Is it "I got the finger but I'm OK" or "I'm OK cause I gave the finger"

Actually, I'm with you on getting injured and taking care of business. Learned that one early from the old man. Pain is a state of mind and many times reactions to it are a luxury that just has to wait. I won't trade war stories, but the bottom line is you gotta do what you gotta do.
