I have 2 moisture meters, one broken - one junk. Mainly smaller boards but some 8 to 10/4. Would like prong-less but the one we bought is Junk. Are there any prong-less that are accurate? What are you using and how do you like it? Any advice or specifics helpful, need to buy very soon. Thanks

There's quite a bit on that subject on the woodweb forums.

My experience with moister meters is the prong less are less accurate. I prefer the one with prongs. My meter has extended reach prongs that I can bore a hole in insert two long prongs for 10 inch thick wood and logs. it is by ge protimeter, made in Marlow, England.

Thanks you two, new laptop, virus ate the old one and just getting bookmarks back. Forgot woodweb with all the stuff going on. No resaw since sold the Inca 3wheeler so no need for deep readings until can afford dedicated resaw. Lots to research.

I would second Eugene's recommendation on the Protimeter. I use a Delmhorst pin type meter almost every day with excellent results. Delmhorst is another fine instrument.
A lot of it depends on how much you want to spend...I think even Ryobi makes one for sale at Home Depot.
