I was commissioned to do two coats of arms one for the retiring bishop and one for the new one.

They will be getting painted today all of the 3d work I did by hand I used the bot to pocket the bulk out.

Most of the carving was done with dremels and diamond bits, and a carbide oval that removes a lot of wood in short order. the wood is red oak it power carves well.
Was an interesting job and as usual I underestimated my time but thats life.

Very nicely done! You should have one of them scanned so that your hard work can be preserved.

Got them painted up and up to the contractor for delivery.

Brady, I like the idea that they are unique by my hand that is all I have with these, they are not my original design I worked off pictures and drawings to a set of loose guidelines. So while I enjoyed the work it was not a special creative piece. I did sign the backs so I will never miss Mass.

coincidentally I was contacted by the local Catholic Bishop's office to see if I could make up some of the same type of plaques (but V carved not 3D).

I have the vector files and bought some new bits but havent had a chance to work on it yet.

So was this all cut by hand - nothing on the CNC?

Andrew I cut the outline and pocketed out around the roping and outlined some of the coat all the 3d work was done by hand I can carve faster than drawing it all up in the computer, and it still would have needed hand work after machining.
