We will be getting our bot (if everything checks out) at the end of the year and I need to know where to put everything, from the bot, pc, to sheet goods and anything else I don't know I need.
Please help.

P.S. most of the bump outs on the right side of drawing are heaters.

If you model the room in Sketchup, you can download models of the various ShopBots from the Sketchup 3d warehouse that are pretty current. That will let you move things around your virtual shop and play with layouts until you find one that works for you.

To find them and lots of other ShopBot-related things, go to http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=shopbot

You didn't mention which machine you were getting (size, model, etc.).

The simple answer is...it depends on how big you are. I would leave at least the width of your body on the 2 long sides, and at least 8 feet on the short sides (one or both ends)
You also want to put the "short side" (the side where you can easily slide sheet goods onto the table) in a direct path of your door, rather then bringing it in and twisting and turning, ect.:D

Bill would like to do it (really don't want to learn one more Cadd program)but would still have no idea if it was a good setup.

Since this is an educational environment I would probably put the high end of the mill against a wall with the control computer next to it on the right. I would leave good space on both sides for students to gather round. If electrical feeds are against that wall then you end up with no cords across the floor. Sheet feed and removal would be from the open end. I wouldn't put it up to a heater.
This is not the ideal for a high production layout, where you are better off feeding from one end and removing from the other, but in that room and for teaching I like that.

Really only two good options. If you're bringing sheet goods in through the 'Shop' door, I'd go with #1.

I was going for #1 as we'll.
Could send your file of the room I may try to add other elements to it.

Thanks,
