Try this

In material .750 thick draw a 4 x 9 rectangle
offset the rectangle by .250 inward or outward
You now have a picture frame on the screen
Open the toolpath tab and try to use a .125 end mill to pocket out the frame.
It will produce really strange looking result. Starts in the corners and goes partway down one side or the other or three or four depending on how the program is feeling at the time.
If you do a similar thing with two circles .250 apart it will pocket them out just fine.

Are we supposed to know about this and I have missed it in the videos?

Why does that happen?

I have Aspire 4.0 and followed you procedure. As far as I can see I got the results I expected.
Have you posted your issue on the Vectric forum?

Which release of 4? The current one is 4.015 and following your instructions I can't get it go wrong on a pocket cut.

Are you using a raster or offset toolpath?

I tried it, no problems. That's on version 4.012.
Updated to 4.015, offset inward, pocketed .75 deep, offset and climb.
Might need a bit more info to do what you did, or upload the .3rv3d.
