This is a new three point shop stool for me to sit on at work, to eat my lunch, etc. Also, just wanted to try out a new idea, and I had a sheet of 1" Baltic birch I wasnt using...

When i first got my bot, someone had posted a 3 legged design like this, what is the stability like? Looks great:D

Stability is pretty good, but obviously dont lean back and to the side ;)

I wanted a three legged stool as my shop floor is pretty uneven and near impossible to have a level 4 legged stool sit flat.

I needed a new shop stool, that was a little higher (26") and a comfortable seat. I eat mu lunch in the shop every day, and I like to sit at my workbench. This is the perfect fit.

I drew up the files last night watching TV, and cut it out. The 24" by 48" panel with the legs, etc took 9 minutes to cut out. The seat about 20 minutes and another 5 or so to cut out the seats and the pockets that accept the legs and back rest support.

I just threw a coat of danish oil on it (that was contaminated with some black stain I used recently) just to give it some protection.

I love these spur of the moment things - they take so little time relatively speaking. I'd never have cut out this thing the "old" way.... pre CNC that is. :)

Thats OK... here in ON, Canada it is WSIB. I pay in becuase its the law. But the funny thing is, business owners cant collect!

I will make sure the stool says "for the boss only".. :D

Andrew,
As nice as that chair is, i don't think it can hold a candle to the designed chair i use which has 3 customizable sitting heights. With just a flip of the wrist i can change the height settings from low, to bot table height, to benchtop height where i can operate the computer.

It even comes with an optional cushion:D

Now i know that you "think" you are a fancy furniture maker but i doubt that even you could come up with something as customizable and cleaver a design as this.....:eek:
Feel free to copy this design....:D

It's "Jack IN a box" NOT "Jack ON a box"!:)
