I work without a vacuum table so almost all of my parts have tabs to hold them in place while the bot finishes my cuts. Tabs work great but can sometimes be a pain to cut, especially on big sheets. I've started using this oscillating multitool my wife gave me for Christmas and it has found a permanent home plugged in next to the ShopBot where it is at the ready to cut through the tabs on all of my work. You can flush cut right up to your finished part without having to wrestle a sheet of sliced up plywood hanging off the end of your table.

I love it.

Have you tried double sided carpet tape ? It works pretty well for most small parts, but you may want to clamp a piece of 3/4 inch laminated counter top material to your table and then tape to laminated surface.

2x tape on Trupan or MDF does not hold as well, plus you have a laminated work surface you can toss out after a while.

Greg: I purchased a Multi Tool for $39.00 bucks at Harbour Freight near me. It has variable speed and a carry case. The tool has become one of my favorite go to tools, and is great for tabs, or just about anything, sands, scrapes, cuts etc. Most handy tool I have bought in some time.

I use a Rotozip to cut any parts loose that have tabs. Works great.

Mine might be the remote control for my dust collector.

I usually use a 3/16" flush trim bit to cut off the tabs; however, plywood is quality is tanking and I have been experiencing voids where the bearing rides. The flush trim bit will also not work on foam core board and I have cut a lot of that lately.

It may be time to get the oscillating tools out again.
