View Full Version : What settings went wrong?

I'm sure its not the first time it happened, but I sure am upset with myself right now. Looks like I accidentally save a cut file that was in metric when I actually wanted inches. Ran the file, and things didn't start off right. Stopped file. Wondered what was wrong and that's when I noticed the beginning of the cut file looked different to me. It had VD, and VA commands which normally aren't there. Went back to the programming computer and found out it was saved as a metric .sbp file. Went back to the CNC and looked up the VD, found it was in millimeters. Set it back to inches, but something is still wrong. When moving it seems like it wants to take off way to fast, and bad noises come from the motors, like slippage on gears. Possibly trying to move to fast for its ability? At least that's what I'm thinking. A unit value of some sort? Where does one go to find out what settings you should have?

What settings changed that I need to correct?

You could try a UR and reload the default settings for your machine.

Switching between metric and imperial files shouldn't have caused those issues though.

Thanks Adrian,

I started to go thru the area where you can reset to the default settings (UR?), but cancelled out for fear it might change back things that I do not want to, you know what I mean. Those little tweaks and changes you do over the years.

I found one old post talking about the settings, and tried them. It got better, but the distance measurements are off. Is there a table/chart with settings/numbers for the machines?

Sounds like you'd be better off loading the default settings and going from there rather than going from whatever you've got now.

If you've been tweaking default settings such as ramping etc you should really save the settings to a custom settings file each time so you can reload them in the future.

You'd have a similar issue if you upgrade the control software as you could lose all your settings again.
