View Full Version : ShopBot Hitting Hardstops During XY Zero Routine

Hey Botters,

Quick question about the homing routine. My proxies for my XY are setup so that the car does not hit the hardstop before the proxies are triggered. However, when running the [C3] command to zero, the Bot runs into the hardstops and backs off to setup it's zeros successfully. Is this normal?

Thanks,

Brandan

If it's backing off, completing the routine and zeroing, it's probably just that is sounds like it's hitting the hard stops upon tripping the proxies at the initial higher move speed before setting up for the slower approach.

If it was actually hitting the hard stops, you would get a motor fault and need to reset (if you have an Alpha). Not sure about a standard, but it would be loosing steps once the stops were hit and wouldn't zero out properly if it did continue the routine.

Like Scott said mine sounds like that but if you watch the lights on the switches you will see that they get tripped.

I agree with what was said above I have a standard and it sounds like it hit something on that initial time it stops at the proximity switch. It makes a loud thunk sound.

Yep - I thought the same thing, until I actually watched it. Light is triggered when it hits the prox switch, but sounds like it hit the hard stop.

Never been a problem, and the accuracy is pretty darn good!

Yup as you guys said, its just that initial quicker movement. Everything is fine. Thanks for the prompt replies guys!

It may be you have it set to move faster then normal so the jolt from stopping at say 5mph is less then stopping at 25mph.

Yeah, I actually rewrote my C3 routine, because I didn't like the way it worked. I have mine set to move my X & Y to the exact point I have a square jig on my table. The old control software, when you had the offsets set in the config was fast. The newer versions go to the prox switch, twice, come all the way to my preset, then does the same all over again for the other axis.

The one I wrote has a slower move speed, only comes off the switch 0.5" in each direction, then simply applies my offset for XY zero - way faster...
