I bought this file and I am using aspire on a 4x8 shopbot. I got the exact length and copied it several time for my desired length, but after running a toolpath it still had splice problems. SOOO I zoomed WAY in and adjusted each splice individually, but still NO banana. some of you have surely been through this. What must I do to get it right?
thanks

On the program i use, sometimes when you overlap the edges where it merges into each other you get this and sometimes that is what you get when you have a space between them also.

I can't tell you how on this program but i would take my actual part and make a vector outline of each part.
Then i would take both the part and the vector outline of each part and use the vector outline to move the parts together. There must be some function where you can link them together but i'm not sure of that. In any event what you are trying to do is use the vector outlines as a guide to join the parts, then delete the vectors.
There is probably a easier way to merge, ect but i'm not familiar with it.

Perry, when you made the component did you set it to merge to each other??

Fire up the sculpting tools and smudge & smooth it out. Turn the strength down...go slow. Easy peasy.

You might also want to check your combine strategy. Using merge might give you what you want. I made a quick molding to demo that here:

Aspire tip: The more zoomed in you are the finer the adjustment with the arrow keys.

With the latest version of Aspire and VCarve you can set the arrow keys to nudge whatever amount you want regardless of the zoom level by holding Ctrl and Shift while pressing the arrow. The nudge amount is on the Snap Settings (F4).

well it looks like all you have to do is set the component to merge. Makes a seamless splice. Very easy you just have to remember to press 1 simple button!!!!!
thanks guys for your help. Where were you at 2 am. this morning? Haaaa have a great day.

Great tip. I did not know this.

Thanks for"Control AND Shift" Adrian, I was wondering why it wasn't working from my settings.
