Today I received request for a outdoor sign , I usually stay away from with our climate but when I do I like cedar. The lady brought me a sign from a flea market looks like particle board with a very high quality color finish on it . She said there were 4 -5 colors and you could tell the carving was done afterwards. Tag on back said completely water resistant. If anyone knows what it is , called and who sells it I would appreciate it . thanks

Key phrase in this posting is "water resistant". Don't confuse it or let your client confuse "water resistant" with "water proof or weather proof". However in the past few days I have discovered there is a type of outdoor, supposedly "water proof" MDF though I have not used it.
Check out this link for earlier Shopbot Forum talk about this very product.

There indeed is a product that looks like MDF but has a waxy feel. One of my suppliers sells it for exterior trim work, and it is called Extira.
Completely 100% made to last out doors. MDF as you know would swell up the first rain and be garbage.
