Com ports

I disconnected my XP machine from my old bot to use with my plotter. The plotter also uses the serial port. But when I reconnected to the bot, now the shopbot control program isn' recognizing the bot. I went into 'device manager' it's set to comport 1 as is the bot. What am i doing wrong? thanks

This is after you restarted the PC with the Bot plugged in, right? Some serial devices 'hang on' to those devices until you restart.

Yes, I had everything, including the bot, plugged in. Tried rebooting also. I will try again tomorrow. Maybe I missed something.

For the heck of it, plug your plotter back in to see if it still works through the COM port. This should verify that you didn't fry the port somehow.
