Try these:

Rockler (http://www.rockler.com/solid-brass-small-box-cylinder-hinges)

and

Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/us/hardware/page.aspx?p=46693&cat=3,41241)

I hope that helps

That price is for 10 hinges.

Note that all three links offering are for 5mm diameter hinges. Way too big for a ring box!
You may be better off buying a cheap ringbox and getting the hinge from it.

Not a bad idea.

I use the Lee Valley ones for fly boxes, and they work well - but you need a thickness of about 7mm in a hardwood for them to install properly. Don't try them in softwood - the wood can't take the stress of repeated opening and closing and will eventually fail.

You may want to look at "slot" or "kerf" hinges - a couple of examples here (these particular ones may not meed your neet, but show what I'm talking about): http://craft-inc.myshopify.com/products/copy-of-6141-small-kerf-hinge http://www.woodcraft.com/product/2003744/7854/barbed-hinge-78-x-916-pair.aspx

Bob, how many do you need? I've got a bunch of used ones that came off some scrap pen boxes that I'd mail to you for postage. They're basically unused and were just removed from the small pen boxes. Not sure if it would be worth it or not to Australia, but....

You may want to try model builder hinges, e.g. these Dubro micro hinges. (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXRWW6) I believe they are 3 or 4 mm but not sure
