This is simply amazing. The money spent here with about zero use will blow you away. I wonder what happened?? Could easily be near a million spent.

Besides the guy needing some camera pointers....I was getting sea sick watching it.....I must say pretty impressive home workshop.....it's more like a retail machinery shop!! You'd never get around to using all that equipment.......surprised there was not a Shopbot in there:D
Cheers

I knew it wasnt your shop Jack - no doggy and the dead give-away no shavings! Imagine having the guy as a customer though. You would never have a bad month!
I think he was more of a tool collector than a wood worker

Pretty sad he had a lot of money and probably died making more and never got to play with his hobby of wood working that is what I see.

Well i've already done a walk thru with my son and pointed out the value of all the various tools, just in case, and told him that the shopbot is worth at least 15k, so if someone walks in and offers him a grand and he sells it, that i'll come back and haunt his ass!

Jack, Chrissy reckons she will have zero problems finding a replacent when I cark it, as any fella would be instantly hooked on all the gear!

Still remember my Mom selling a Mercedes 180D rebuilt engine at a yard sale for $50 while Dad was on business trip:) She told the guy it was just taking up space in the garage and she didn't know what her husband had it for, as he hadn't touched it in 2 yrs. :) Guy was grinning from ear to ear and Mom just kept looking at the $50 bill. Tried to tell her---But who listens to 10yr olds?
Boy, was Dad LIVID! Think he sold the 180D and bought the 200D JUST to Teach her a lesson:)
Yep, can Just see my LieNielsons going for a buck a pop, and my Quilted Maple chopped up for kindling. :(

Feels like an estate sale. I hate and like going to estate sales. I hate it because I know there is pain and a life story playing out. Each item has a history of some kind, often the story ended too soon.
I like finding the items though, but I rarely quibble on the price. I've found many hand tools, toolboxes, scaffolding, transits... You name it. I often buy stuff just to collect it and let it wait for my estate sale one day. Sometimes, I do find items I need. I recently picked up a PC brad nailer and crown stapler, both for $75. They were barely used, I think the brad nailer probably had the first ever clip of nails still in it. It certainly helped.
At the same sale were tons of quality clamps way under priced (a 30" Bessey for $5) I took the guy (turns out he was the son) and told him the real value of the clamps. Told him what he should price them at (about 1/2 to 2/3 of retail) and gave him my number. I told him if it backfired and they didn't sale, I'd buy the entire lot for the original price. He pulled them to reprice, thanked me profusely. Admitted he knew nothing about the tools. I assume they sold, he never called.
On the other end of the spectrum, our neighbor was "robbed" by a police officer. Her husband died, he came to appraise the gun collection and offered her $500 for a half dozen guns telling her it was a good deal and would save her tons of paperwork. The guns were worth at least $500 EACH and there is no paperwork to worry about since she owned the guns. Stuff like that makes me angry. She desperately needed the money too.
