I built one of the ShopBot computer carts many years ago and only finally got around to painting the poor thing. In the process I added some 3D printed brackets for the 2" steel casters I wanted to use.

The brackets:

The brackets are printed from PLA on my Rostock MAX "Orange Menace" using a hot-ends.com j-head with a .4 nozzle.

Neat. That's the first 3D printed practical thing I think I've ever seen.

Thanks. Most of the stuff I print IS for practical use - and not for the printer itself. :)

I got into 3D printing to support my cockpit building hobby, so that's where most of the parts go.

Which 3D printer do you use? Those brackets look quite substantial.

I printed them on a SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX v1 printer I've named "Orange Menace". I write their user & assembly manuals on a volunteer basis.

Here's what the machine looked like right after I finished building it for the 2nd Ed. of the v1 assembly manual. http://www.geneb.org/rostock-max/geneb-orange-menace.jpg

The side-mounted extruder has been long since removed and a smaller version was added to the top. "Red Sonja" has that configuration: http://www.geneb.org/rostock-max/red-sonja.jpg

Thanks Bill. I wish I could remember where I got the files. Having the wheel brackets makes me want to build the stools that were on the same site. :)

Gene.... you can find some of those files at www.100kprojects.com , including a stool that might be the one you're looking for.

Gene,

Curious....what software are you using to generate the slicing G code for the printer? Is it one of the open source ones, like Cura??

Are you using Aspire to generate the stl file?

Cheers

Thanks Bill! I kept thinking it was 100kgarages. :)

Michael, I used the licensed version of KisSlicer (http://www.kissslicer.com) to slice the model. I designed it using SolidWorks 2012.

I've been working with MatterSlice (part of MatterControl) recently and it's been a really nice slicing tool. It's open source. If you're running Windows or MacOS, you should check out MatterControl. It's a host package that includes 3 slicer engines, MatterControl, Slic3r, and Cura.
