My principal wanted to know if I knew anything about them.
He's looking at it for a low cost solution for the high school.
At the prices listed I fear bad things.
If anyone has any stories or anything I can tell him it would be appreciated.
I'm in the mindset of saving money until they can afford a desktop or this rumor larger desktop.
thanks,

It's a toy. It uses belts for the drive system & essentially comes with NOTHING. It's pretty much just a chassis and control box.

This is fine for a hobbiest in his garage - but I'd hate to be the one yoked with using it for teaching. They should get a Desktop with router...It really isn't much more when you factor in what you get.

There are a couple of desktops in the for sale section right now that might be more in the price range they want to be in. Some schools are finicky about buying used though so you may just have to wait it out until the money is available for a new machine.

Kyle;
If your school wants a mill made out of plastic you can turn the design and manufacturing of one into a school project and cut the parts on your existing Desktop.

Administrators, by nature, want to go cheap. You need to educate him. Would you want you students using the cheapest table saw available. I am not familiar with that CNC brand but I would bet that you will regret the purchase. After a while it will sit unused, needing repairs.
There are a fair number of CNC's available at an affordable price. I bought a SHopbot benchtop for my high school 12 years ago. I'm retired now but it's still going strong. Don't go cheap.
