Using Titebond 2 wash coat on MDF edges to seal - diluted 2.5 to 1. We then apply one coat of undercoat/primer/sealer (water based) but we are getting a fine crocodile pattern. Anyone got any clues why this is happening? Got 300 of these blighters to do. Only done 60 so far. Will be finished in gloss acyrlic water based. Thinking it might be the water proofing in Titebond 2??? Its over 2 hours to go and get a bottle of the Original Titebond in case this is the problem. Any clues guys as the Titebond is fantastic for giving a really good finish - the idea came from this forum!

Here in the states we would have alligator finish. I use shellac to seal my MDF projects

Thanks Jerry. Originally used shellac sanding sealer but had troubles with it filling the 45 degree chamfer. I think Jack suggested the Titebond and others backed him up - over 12 months ago. It does work to fill the edge fantastically well. It is a mongrel job in that if you use a flood coat you get pooling in the dome. We are using a variable speed motorised turntable. We get crocagators in Oz! Signs all get stolen by European back packers!
