Don't do anything like this, but just see it on Vectric all the time, and hoped there might be something in the threads you could use.
Zero experience or desire yet.
Maybe Doug or Jeff will chime in?
Lots of nice bases made that would make yours stand out from the pack.
As long as you've got the Machine, you might as well make the base "Special" :)

Never dealt with alibaba, I know it is a huge operator, if they had something I really needed I would give them a try. Am pretty sure they are a middleman, like Amazon.
Disadvantages of these:
* you are limited to 1 size/thickness
* white only, no RGB
* no remote
* ordering from asia you might have to wait a month
* minimum order of 100

I have rarely seen LED bases offered, this place sells clip on RGB strips http://www.lumenedge.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=4 , you might go into sticker shock looking at prices and you'd still be left needing a base.
I saw one outfit that was selling aluminum bases with a friction fit some years back, decent concept but the pricing was so ludicrous I didn't even bookmark the site.

Far better and more economical to make your own. You'll have RGB lighting with remote, any size/thickness you want, any color. Less than $10 in parts. I make mine out of dirt cheap mdf, but your option to use walnut or something. Occasionally make them out of plexiglas too. Only downside to DIY is you have to stockpile the parts and be handy with a soldering iron, IMO its the only way to go.

Thick plexi is pretty expensive buying new, I get mine off craigslist which of course is hit and miss but sometimes you can find people almost wanting to give it away.

Here is an online source

I would think Houston would have an acrylic shop or two as well

Probably the best online option for plexi, I personally get mine local but have bought from them before.
don't get too happy until you factor in shipping ,,, If I'm not mistaken I think they are located in TX.
