I went to YouTube and searched on Table Saw Fails.
DON'T DO IT! Just don't. OMG. The suspense, the drama.
Seriously though, this one had me in stitches at times....

That makes me hold my breath when I see stupid things like this done. It's amazing emergency rooms are not busier then they actually are. Buggles the mind how many Darwin Award nominees are out there...

That was hilarious. I was laughing out loud. I have to remember to watch that anytime I think I am having a bad day.....

The Darwin part is that YOU know YOU are going to do something really STUPID, so you get YOUR buddy to VIDEO IT! Russ

Saw it live yesterday on my way home, standing at a traffic light. A construction worker was trimming a piece of plywood at the side of the road with a circular saw holding the saw in one hand and the plywood (maybe 12x12 inch) in the other hand. Since he struggled with the blade guard he stuck a pencil in to block it open. I was tempted for a moment to stop and ask for a supervisor. But then it might have been the supervisor himself and I guess they would have told me to mind my own business. The light turned green and I took off before I could see if something bad happened. I was wondering if this is they guy who is juggling a running chainsaw at Venice Beach.

Along the lines of Russ's post, when you start to do something you KNOW is dangerous and stupid, but you do it anyway?:o

I vowed long ago to always listen to that screaming voice in my head saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". As I recall it was right after I didn't listen to it and walked away in serious pain. Since then, I have actually done things like setup up to start a cut... then stop and shut everything down because of that "feeling". I have never regretted doing that but I have regretted not listening to my internal warning so I figure I should listen. I generally think about it for a bit and realize what was wrong and then do it the "right" way.
HOWEVER, there are some times I can't explain. I once went to use a radial saw I had and as I reached for the handle "NOOOO, STOP" went through my head. I stopped and then started again, same thing. So I took the board off and looked at it, look at the saw... I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. So I started again and "NOOOO, Just don't do it!". So I didn't. I went and did something else for a short while can came back. I decided I would clean and oil the radial saw to let me think through what I was doing. As I did I pulled the head of the saw toward me and it FELL OFF onto the table top. The bracket was broken and I didn't know it. How did I know that without knowing that?

my first though is that I can see the homeowner/hobbiest doing something dumb with there tools but the professionals with big professional tools in their big professional shops should know better. Then I realize that I myself did item numbers 12, 62, 187, and 219 from the list of things not to do with your table saw just last week....oh and I added a few new items as well!
