I got an order for some beer tap handles for a microbrewery this beer they make special for a high end catering house in Portland Conn.

This is what I came up with.

Beautiful job as always, Brian ;)

Astute individuals will take note that success has more to do with the captain at the helm than the boat itself, so to speak.

Thanks Brady I was getting a bit crazy with the tedious repetition with hand detail, but they all have a bit of original hand made look from it. And of course as usual I was overly optimistic about my time.

Brian,
Doesn't look like you do anything half assed.....very cool. How does it fit in your hand for use? How did you attach the metal threaded part? Another excellent job!

OK. My take aways... Bowling ball used as universal angle clamping system. The owl is great. Bear is cute. I like the hand made block and tackle that appears to be holding up a batter in the background of image 5. ( Or maybe it is acting as a counter weight to something unseen....)

All in all, I like the shop. It is obvious that you get a lot out of it! Awesome stuff!

Got to admit....I may steal that bowling ball idea 'cause I'm always sitting and need weird angles:) NEAT!
Same rig you use to torch your stuff?
Only 4 Critters? Must be late hibernators.
Got to admit, scratching my head trying to figure out how to draw that sucker in VCP is giving me a headache:)
Oh Yeah...LOVE the tap handles:)
Great work!
Cherry Blanks?
Why inserts separate?
NICE Brian::

Jack the tap ferrules have a dowel screw, one end has a lag thread the other a 3/8 16 machine thread, the metal part threads on with enough to thread on the valve stud for the important part of dispensing beer.

MogulTx, The counterweight system is for my chainsaws, I came up with the design last year when I could not support them after cutting 3 tendons in my hand on glass. it works great, I keep using it even though I am back to full strength.

I made two, one for indoors with the electrics and another for my gas saws outside

Scott you don't have to steal the idea I made plans after a bunch of carvers were interested I have no interest in manufacturing it

Link to the drawings http://harnettdesigns.lenzus.com/cgi/album?30891110+30965168+0+85383298

I use it all the time, its mounted on a hydraulic table to adjust height, I mount all different tops to the threaded stud its saves a huge amount of time with carving not having to walk around it.

A link to plans...AND more Critters :) :)
Thanks Brian
Like the counterweight idea too.
Straight arming 8 1/4",3.25hp, and 4X24" belt sander gets tiring,as 1/2 my benches and all my sawhorses were built by 6' carpenters.
I see the hose and it reminds me...How did Hydronic work out from January on?
So much snow here the greenhouse Southwall was Covered till March, be glad you went vertical collector.

That's a great idea, Brian. I think people who use a shopbot learn to be builders of specialty jigs and fixtures to assist with the manufacturing processes. Or maybe we are wired such that people who are builders and who want can see ways of making something happen - are the ones who wind up building ShopBots as one of the pinnacle tools for getting things accomplished! Not sure... BUT- you obviously span several disciplines (?) here.... Art, practical, technical... - Thanks for letting us see your creativity!

Scott the hydronic worked well shop never went below freezing I did burn scraps in the wood stove when I was in the shop the heated area of the floor was 7-10 degrees above the non heated, I plan on adding another 20 x 8' panel but am working on a hot water panel for the house hot water first. more projects than time.

Delivered the tap handles, installed a few, checked it to make sure it worked the beer is good nice flavor.

The picture of the building is what I modeled the handles from.
