We should be in the new shop by the first few weeks of October. With the weather being dry things have started moving quickly. I have been getting ready to lay out the shop and class room, so the electrician can wire up both to meet all my needs and for future equipment. Power company said that they would have the power lines to the new building done by by October 20th, just as soon as the crane is out of the way.

I would like to have some suggestions on what all I should have in the class rooms. I plan on having piping for dust collection for use in the class room plus a power panel that can be accessed for special needs.
please give me all the feed back that you can.

thanks.

Good idea how many do you think I should put in for both. was going to put plugins all around the class room, and connections to the large screen tv for computer ....

Eugene,
Besides power, I remember James McGrew had WiFi brownouts from having so many laptops running?

Not sure if that's much of a concern for you, but it was really interesting watching the Aspire Camp on his dropcam(made me want to go once we get Aspire and it's always nice to see the dropcam when TJ runs a basic training), and kind of a bummer when bandwidth caused him to shutoff dropcam.
Maybe you could run some classes on GoToMeeting like Shopbot?

Always good to have wired ethernet connections for when wifi gets saturated. Wired can handle a lot more bandwidth than wifi.

Also, be good to have multiple locations in room for setting up a camera so you can record your instructions for two reasons. First is so you can provide online instructions for those not able to travel to you, and 2nd is for you to review your teaching so where improvements can be made.

Each student station should have a power outlet and an ethernet outlet so students can plug in.

I volunteer as a teacher's aid at the local high school vocational arts classes and one of my major purchases for this semister was several more white boards. Nothing teaches like illustrations and that are interactive. If I was building a new classroom I might think about a melamine lined wall(s). Russ

Most of the equipment will still be in the same order, as it is now... it follows the flow of wood from station to station, I just do not have it drawn up.

Make sure you have a good DC and place it outside or in a different room at the very least.

the class room will have both a dust collection port and a vacuum cleaning port and possible a vacuum port as well. As far as chairs it will be what my budget affords and is easy to store. When the class room is not being used for classes for cnc and lasers etc. Tina will be having music lesson for her students there. I want the piano students out of our home. Tired of them walk into my office and looking around.
