View Full Version : V-Carve picture frame. Cherry, Curly Maple.

This is a picture frame I made recently. I traced the images using Aspire. V-carved all of them with a 60 degree v bit.

The finish is Minwax antique finishing oil and Minwax Ebony stain. I used the technique as shown on this forum by layering the oil first then the stain, then more oil.

Nice thin walls and no tearout on the pineapple Tracy:)
JUST started playing with oil/stain/oil myself, and not to happy yet, but probably because my pallet selection cupboard is pretty bare.
Congrats.
Just started playing with VCP8's ability to VCarve on a 3D also, which is a neat Aspire feature for us VCP people.
Can you remember which whose VBit and you're Z plunge rate?

It is a Whiteside 60 degree solid carbide v bit. The part number is 1541. 1/4" diameter.
