I have a piece of extrusion I got from Shopbot it is the same as they use for the X rails on the PRS. I want to buy some T nuts what series T nuts fit the extrusion? I see them available on ebay in series 10 or series 30. I want to get some 1/4" - 20 t nuts that will stay centered I have some that work but they are too small to stay centered so they really are too small for the slot.

Thanks Mike

15 series. I believe the 10 series are 1" centers, the 15 series are 1.5" centers. I use 8020 extrusions for all sorts of things besides my SB. You can use regular 1/4x20 carriage bolts if you want to use a nut, washer and lock washer.

You can check by measuring the distance between slots. It's probably 1.5", hence 15 series. The 8020 catalog has engineering diagrams of the extrusions so you can double check against your machine if you're not sure.

Here's a link to their catalog:

https://8020.net/catalog/category/view/s/shop/id/837/?cat=3

You can find some extreme discounts for both extrusions and fasteners on EBay. 8020 has a store there to sell remnants and overflow which usually can be purchased for much less than the catalog price.

Here's the mount for my indexer:

I just had this same question. Thanks for the reply John and also the tip about using carriage bolts, I have those on hand (which is always easier than going shopping).

Thanks John!! I will take some pictures later of my very handy fixture that I made from the extrusion.

I tried the 1/4"x20 carriage bolts we have in the shop and the ShopBot side rail extrusion slots are too large to capture the bolt. They are able to spin freely inside the slot.

Oops. Sorry, my bad. 5/16" x 18 is the right size. See picture for details.
