I have always used the top of the material for my Z zero and I would like to try using the top of the table on this project. I chose the zero on the table or bottom of the material in the material setup. When I do the tool paths how do you figure the depth of cut for example the material is 1" thick and I want my finished part to be .750" thick normally I would enter a cut depth of .250" is that the same or do I want to enter .750"?

I know this is simple but I have never done it this way. The material I have varies a little in thickness so I don't want to use the top of the material I want it to end up exactly .750" when finished.

Thanks Mike

You would enter .250

Mike,
If you enter .25" it will take .25" off whatever you had entered as thickness.
If you want to be exact then enter Z-.75 and it will be exactly .75" thick from where you Z'd on spoilboard.
Like this first side cut for thick 4/4 we use to get to .96" thickness , before we flip and take second side to one of 3 thickness we use.

If you measure from the table and you set up the material as .75 the even if you have .85 or .65 and you set the cut to .25 it will leave .5 material. If there is 2 passes the first path will either be more or less than .125. Either way will work.
