I am currently in the U.S. Coast Guard and i am trying to make a going away award for one of our members.

What I am trying to do is make a layered wood piece that's in the shape of an aircraft C130J. I saw where someone had created a train coming out of a wall that was made using layered pieces of wood. I would like to do the same but in the form of an aircraft. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

I think i know the train picture you're talking about. It looks as if the nose of a steam train in emerging from the wall, right?

If so, then the way i would do it is, depending on what software you are using, load up your model of the airplane.

Orient the model so that the tip of the nose is in the Z axis facing upward extending out from the Z Zero plane

raise the model in the Z axis to expose the amount of the model you want to look like is coming out of the wall.

From there i think if you follow this tutorial it will give you the answers you seek. If you are using some other program then i'm not sure...

Here are some nice models (https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/aircraft?price[from]=20&price[to]=300&keywords=c130j). Pick one with a higher poly count and make an offer. When importing, pick a straight on view and flatten it in the Z axis. May take some playing around to get it right. You could do a slice after importing also to gain some depth. This is assuming you have Aspire/ArtCam etc.
