One can make boxes with the cnc and then in-lay cut stone ect into the top. First pick you cut stone, trace the out side. Then wuith the CNC pockect that pattern to the depth needed. ( generally go a little deeper and fill back with duct and glue to ge the stone to set level. ) Before removing the lid from the cnc dry fit the stone, (besure to use some nylon fishing line so you can remove the stone.)That way itf the fit is too tight you can remove just a little more. Here is a sample of one that is in-layed. I keep sanding dust of all the woods that I use to make my own filler for project like this. Just be sure to use an epoxy that dries totaly clear to mix your dust with.

By the way this is the first one I did, I was so excitied that it worked out that I forgot to sand off the tool marks..
