Just noticed VCP 8.5 was released;
http://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=25066
But it's not a patch that you get from "Check for Updates"
Requires you to use your Vectric Portal?
Bought my VCP8 upgrade from Shopbot and didn't notice any Portal info:(
Can anybody give me some hints on how to access the 8.5 Shopbot edition?
Supposedly on of the upgrades is MUCH better preview resolution, which would help with my tiny stuff which gets pixellated.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

The ShopBot edition is slightly different and will be distributed directly from ShopBot not via the Vectric Portal. We are still working on some of the specialist variants of the program but expect to have them ready soon.

Scott, thanks for the heads up on the Vectric update.

I logged into my Aspire 8, and checked under Help to see if there were any updates. I found that version 8.5 of Aspire is now available for free to registered Aspire 8 users. So I logged in, and in about 40 minutes time, I had downloaded and installed Aspire 8.5, as well as all 13 of the clip art files. (Downloading and installing all the clip art took longer than the Aspire 8.5 file.)

Next I'll have to look for the videos and find out what is new in Aspire 8.5.

So thank you again Scott for the heads up. And thank you Vectric for making these types of upgrades available for free to registered users! Chuck

Thanks Scott - have it up and running and its brilliant! Have an immediate use for the two main new features. Being able to do 3D using conventional tool paths in VCP is a great time saver and variable step over is excellent. Tutorials as usual are first class. Watched them in bed this morning - dare I say much more exciting than other activities!

Yeah Bob,
The variable step, and skipping flat areas will be great:)
Looking forward to the increased preview quality option for the tiny stuff as well.
Probably be watching the other tutorials during my first cuppa tomorrow as well. :)
