Our local maker space owns a 5 axis PRSalpha and SolidWorks. Does anyone happen to know of a Post Processor for this hardware - written for the Camworks module in SolidWorks?

Something like that i'm guessing would be best answered by calling Shopbot direct. If anyone has it i'm sure they do!

We have a 5 axis in our shop and we use Autodesk Inventor HSM Pro (free for educational use for now). This allows us to run continuous 5 axis toolpaths. My understanding is that Solidworks may offer a post processor for the Shopbot, but at a price.

You're doing 3+2 right? Unless you're doing a swarfing toolpath or a "follow 3d contour" path?

We intended to do full 5 axis milling. Is it not possible with ShopBot's 5 axis PRSalpha?

I looked at the software conditions at the HSM Prp website (http://cam.autodesk.com/hsm-ultimate-for-inventor/).

Am i correct in understanding that the free version is limited to 30 days?

Do you happen to have any insight as to why ShopBot is not supplying the 5 axis post processor to use with Solidworks? It seems like such a cost-effective approach for the equipment manufacturer to provide something that is so basic to its operation by every purchaser.

We have someone that is considering writing a SolidWorks 5 axis PRSalpha post processor. He has requested that we provide sample g-code that runs on the CNC mill. Would you be willing to send me a 5 axis tool path created in Autodesk Inventor HSM Pro that I can pass on to them?

In-House Solutions supplied our maker space with a MasterCam 5 axis post processor for our ShopBot. No further action required on this item at this time.
