Machine froze, computer still running code

After about an hour of cutting a 14hr carving, my machine froze. The computer and program were still running, but the machine stopped dead in it's tracks, still at last cutting position. The spindle had stopped turning also. I restarted everything and it seemed zero was still accurate so I restarted. Is this a comm error or something else?

I used to get that always at the front of the table . I found it was grounding but I think it was some part of my grounding wire on my dc hose touching the machine. once I made sure no metal from the dc hose touched the machine it has stopped.
