View Full Version : All axis jerking!
Hello Shopbotters,
I'm in need of help. See my shoptbot use to run well on a windows 7 Acer laptop and it gave in the other day. Now i got another laptop and installed (windows 10
) the latest software which i believe is 3.8 and now everytime i try to move the shopbot if it's either a jog or move it jerks alot and doesnt move smoothly. I mean it does move and I'm sure nothing's wrong with the motors or any hardware but I feel like its something with the software or something electric? please let me know what i can do. I have a 94 X 48 shopbot. I'm not sure if its alpha or standard but its kinda old. So im guessing standard but the control box is new.

Need to find out what model/type of ShopBot it is for one, but did you load the control box firmware included with the latest version (SB3.8.42)? You should have been asked upon first run, but do a UI to do so. You should then do a packet-et test to see if your USB connection is up to the task (instructions under UT). Don't use a Hub with 3.8 and try other ports.
Also, depending on your location, it's static season in some parts of the world.

Everything is responding but I've noticed that after a couple minutes of use it starts jerking alot especially when I try cutting from a file. I am sure that it has to do with the transfer of the data. Could it be that the data isn't transferring up to speed? I added a UI here. Let me know what I can do to fix this please.
I noticed that my Packet_ET is at - 203.6. Can this be my problem?

Most likely. Please answer whether or not you updated the firmware. If you were using a different/older version of SB3, you should have been notified to do so upon first run, but can manually do it with a UI. It looks like you have by the screenshot.
With a new laptop, you need to make sure all power saving/CPU throttling and USB selective suspend are disabled. Full power, full on, 24/7.
Make sure that any manufacture drivers that apply to USB are up to date. There could also be some BIOS update that could address a USB issue.
Try other ports and test each one. Try it with a hub just to see if there is a difference.
What year/model is your bot? Is the control card not new enough to run 3.8.XX? Were you running 3.8.XX before or 3.6.46? If you were using the older version, try that one instead (would need to update/downgrade the firmware again).
Okay it works perfectly. Yeah I did update everything as should and the year I'm unsure of but the control box is new I bought it last year. It's working fine now. My problem was that I had the .exe file running on windows 7 compatibility mode. I did this due to thinking maybe it wouldn't run on my windows 10 but it works well now that I removed the compatabilty mode. How silly of me. I do appreciate the help and advise thanks alot.
