I have got my bot running again but am curious if anyone could tell me what has happened. I was doing some quite vigorous 3D machining on some 4ft tall walnut pillars-rough passing with 1/2 ball nose 1/2" cut depth and 30% stepover. Seemed to be doing fine but would suddenly stop and the screen would show it was moving. When I would stop the file and try manually jog any axis it wouldn't move but again it shawed on the screen it was. I found I had to shut off and restart the SB3 program and sometimes the control box. Then it would move. Sometimes it would come up with communication error. Then when I would move and come to my limit switches it would stop but it would still keep moving the numbers on the screen. I restarted every thing and I have it going now. It is a PRT 4G 96-48.

Lorin...
There have been a few reports of similar actions, myself being one. My conditions were not deemed to be "normal", but I was not alone. What version of SB3 are you running?

3.6.5
I see there is a new version out but I am nervous.

I saw this again today
Numbers moving on the screen, but no physical movement... It actually looks like the motor drivers game up as the axis was not "locked" (I could easily move it by hand) while the numbers where moving...

I was running the Latest 3.6.10 software...

Lorin & Pat:
There seems to be a small bug in the 3.6 versions.
Unless you are using the E-cabinet link you do not need any of the 3.6.? versions. I would recommend that you go back to 3.5.20 version, it's most reliable.
Personal opinion of course.

I use ecabs but I guess I could run an older version for my 3d work. Haven't had much trouble with it when running ecabs.

Does anybody have a link to the 3.5.<latest>?

I have 3.5.3, 3.5.8, and 3.5.12 saved away.

Lorin,

Have you tried going back and doing a clean install? That means taking off everything shopbot related and even going into the register and deleting the bot files.

In the run command box you enter regedit on your pc to get there.

It seems that some old files remain when you upgrade and it gets confused.

I would like to see a section in the software upgrade section that gives these instructions. It would save a lot of heartaches.
