Which ver of the SB software is best for for 2006 PRT 4G.

With the controller card / V4G system / you could use the most recent version 3.8.46

I'm confused. Version 3.8.46 appears to be a release that hasn't happened yet. Do you mean 3.6.46?

It actually is not dependent on being 4G, but the controller card connected to the V4G board (small card).

If the smaller card has lights on it then it is one of the v2xx controllers and would be fine to run on the most current version - 3.8.48 - but can also be run on the earlier 3.6.46
If the smaller card does not have lights on it the the connection type likely is a serial-usb and you would need to run version 3.6.46.

What would be gained by switching to 3.8.48 from 3.6.46 assuming I have the correct controller.

however, I never recommend that soemone change versions if they are currently working. if you have no issues, stick with 3.6 :)

My machine is from 2013 and I've never updated anything. It works perfectly now and I'm afraid of bricking the darn thing by messing with the software. I'm a software engineer too. Going to stick with the existing 3.6.x software until something blows up.

I can do this easily enough in code already but this would be nice to have.
