First one I made was a test, as step-mom said she collected owls recently, but came out so good I finished it for her...Thread was "Putzing with small branches" and no interest.
Lot more info her at Vectric Forum;
https://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=30933
But she just got it, and said "LOVING" it was an understatement:)
I kinda liked the little guy myself, and had another similar Black Walnut branch I rescued from a shredder two and half years ago.
So when woke at midnight yesterday and couldn't sleep.....Jigged up MY piece, took measurements and changed model and cut.
First pic is hers, just before sister took it to Vermont.
The rest are from yesterday. I LIKE how MINE came out too! :)
JUST off the machine pics coming next.

Just brushed and blew it off this morning after coffee.
Just gave it first coat of Pine rosen/Linseed/D-Limonene (roughly in thirds)

Just awesome. Interesting how you find these interesting things inside a piece of wood. Guess it is sort like Michelangelo that knew David was inside a piece of marble, he just had to remove all the extra stuff hiding him.

As always Scott, the things you do are awesome. All the detail is amazing. What bit is that and how long did it take?

Thanks all!
David This is the SyTool 3"LOA, 1.5CEL, .25mm Radius. Because it was for the House, I did the same 5% stepover as my Step-Mom's...so a couple hours with a 3D Raster to find good wood and get the bark curve right, making a couple passes at a time, and then MN'ing down for a grand total of .55" for the TBN to start the .02" machining allowance cut.
Used Drillman1"s new Longer CEL .125 downcut(1.5,1.5,35% step .05"pass at 15.5K), until the hole at the feet was pretty much done(45%?) 2 hours?...
Then started the Finish toolpath at 11 am, and cut 1,1,16K as it worked so well with the first one....8:46:30 (?)
Take a look at the thread link at the beginning of this one;
https://forum.vectric.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28146&hilit=Tiny
Bought the first TINY set because Randall liked them...a LOT leery of Chinese, but trust Randall...GLAD I did.
First set worked a charm for my small stuff, so with second order(I drop stuff:) ) I bought a 3" .25"shank .25mmR one to see if they cut as good as the tiny ones...they do:)
So ordered 6 varied tips, but mainly the tiniest.
Yeah Brian....first time I super-sized a model to fit a branch, and seem to have lucked out both times(First time was the best though)...Nervous as heck that the Model wouldn't "fall off"
the curve of the actual branch right. PSL and a LOT of measuring and guestimating!!
Been surfacing some branches and firewood for this little European Squirrel guy since 4am!
Still figuring placement in 3 pieces of wood....not sure so prepping all.

Dave....THIS one's for the House! But POSSIBLY sending my Step-Mom the Vectric link led to a NICE Christmas check for my spindle jar!
I don't work for filthy lucre, BUT if I make a set of 36 Bespoke carved four sides Children's Blocks as a gift for a friend's 1 yr old....and they give me a little piece of official paper with a # and some Zeros in it...I ain't averse to buying some wood and tools:)

Thanks Scott will be ordering sometime in the future. Shop was almost complete when I experienced excruciating pain in feet and ankles. Told all of the generous volunteers that I would try to finish myself at a different pace as I could not keep up with them any longer. Was a journey trying to get relief from the pain. Spent months not even working on or in the shop. Now for the past three months I have been working on and in the shop but only last from 2 to 6 hours before pain is unbearable. Have a plan to replace my ankles this year. Started a deck/porch yesterday so I can have a ramp into the shop after the surgeries (3 total). 2 Months no weight bearing on first surgery. 1 month for the replacements. I have a motorized scooter that was my dads that I will use to access the shop. I have been leveling slabs on the bot and am planning to make some coffee table and benches while I'm recovering.

Sorry to hear David! :(
Ramps are a good idea anyways. Scooter to get around long distance is good idea, but scooter in shop would be like playing Bumper Cars for me:)
Possible to see if you can find a solid aluminum wheelchair in some town nearby that has an "Equipment Closet" like in our town and next town over here?
Pretty easy adapting stuff for "Chair, and you can get closer than a Scooter?
Had 2 knees and hips done in family in last 18 months with Aunts....ranging in age 78-87(Mom), and all are doing VERY well!
Good luck......been stuck in bed rest(feet higher than heart) 11 months in past 3 years myself......good idea to have a laptop so you can program in bed!
Wear good foot "Bumpers" when in shop!! LOTS of sharp edges at foot level!!
Slab work is one place I wish for a bigger machine(AND shop!).....I have to do it the old fashioned way, and not being able to "Walk" a plane or belt sander is a PITA!!
Doubt much could keep you down for long! :)

I have a shop stool that I put 4" casters on and can haul a-- across shop. Might use that if scooter doesn't work out. Will have to use that for any table saw work as setting doesn't work at the table saw.

Thanks Steve and David!
Sent the info 4 months ago, and figured the changed their minds after my rambling discourse:)
Musta taken a Bunch of red ink to pare it down....They did very good sticking to the facts I mentioned!
Never even had a project in there before...so nice to see this from a cast off branch prototype! :)
