I am making some if the board marble games. I am going to use a drill tool path with a .25 depth and a 1" cove box bit. Running at 13,000. It worked but sounded a little rough. Cut was clean (brand new bit) going to be cutting walnut. Should I consider a smaller bit with a different tool path?

What size marbles are you using?
I would find a bit the matches them and use it.
Also 13000 rpms seems real fast for a bit that size.

I know that this isn't marble spots but... Just 30 minutes ago I did a catch-all tray for a buddy out of 3/4" walnut. I used a 1.25" bowl bit and ran it at 12500 RPM and 2.5 IPS. The tray was 5" x 8" (give or take - I'm not at that computer right now). I cut .375 deep in three passes. It cut quite nicely and everything was smooth afterwards. I had done the same thing in Padauk a week or so ago and I found that several passes left a smoother finish.

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try!
