View Full Version : Acrylic work
Good morning, I need to work on the grooves in the acrylic, but it keeps melting and sticking to the cutter, damaging all the letters. I'm using a 1/16" cutter, 35 mm/s feed, and 1200 RPM. I need advice on how to prevent the acrylic from melting and minimize the machine's cutting time.
Thank you.

Go faster and it will help it not melt back together. Also an upcut spiral bit will pull the material out of the cut. Use a larger diameter bit if you can and that will also help.

There’s generally two types of acrylic. Cast and extruded, one of them cuts better than the other. It’s been a good while since I’ve cut acrylic, but I believe it’s extruded acrylic that is prone to chips melting back into the cut?
