Looking for recommendation for software. I need to create a 3d model. Super basic. 34" round 2.3125" tall with a 2.3125" radius around the edge. Been trying different "free" programs all day but can't figure them out. I know how to do it with autocad but can't figure these other ones out.

What program are you going to tool path this with once you get it? If you don't have Aspire or equivalent, try Fusion 360 and export as a .stl, then import it into whatever program you are toolpathing it with.

If you have Aspire or Carvco (assuming Carvco can do it too), just do it in there.

I may be missing something, but I believe the "Moulding Toolpath" in VCPro would give that to you better and faster than a 3D process?

With simple profiles, I usually just find a combination of tools that will do the trick. You often have to tinker with offsets to get the tools to run just where you need them because the manufacturers almost never give good detail drawings. Here are a couple moldings I've done that way-

When the design is just too complicated to do the first method then I draw it up in OnShape, import as a model, and 3d carve. (Onshape is free online and functions like SolidWorks) Here's an example of that-
