Hi All!

I have limited experience is a shopbot desktop model (a friend owns), and learned some of how to operate it.

I then came into possession of this PRSAlpha 48 x 48.

It has been used, and is mostly in functional order, I have to do some work on the wiring runs... Plan on adding some e-chains to take care of cable management issues.....

Here is the big issue:
On all of the shopbots that I have seen (3 of them in person), the controller box is at the 0,0 axis with the spindle and z axis facing you. This one seems to be backwards of that.

My questions are:
1> Is this unit put together backwards?
2> Is the gantry on backwards?
3> If so, should I take the whole thing apart and put the unit together in a different way so that the 0,0 and the VFD and control box are on the same side.... (That seems like a lot of work).

Thanks,
Guy

Yeah have read that whole thing. It's written for and includes illustrations for the 96 x 48 unit. Which does not have the same mounting holes as the 48 x 48.
The control box in the assembly manual is mounted the the center leg connector. Which the 48 x 48 does not have.

The direction are actually for the 4 x 8 machine entirely which at first glance seems like no big deal, but issues like this pop up.

I was hoping someone that had the smaller unit might have actual experience with how it is supposed to be mounted.

when you go to X0 Y0 where is the spindle. When you are facing the machine the spindle should be to the corner that is to your left and nearest to you

Ok I have it all together and running, I am more and more thinking that the gantry is on backwards.

I had to go into the software and put a negative in from of the moves per unit to get the readout on the computer screen to read in positive numbers.

I also can't seem to run the automatic shop bot setup. It runs to the end of the unit, and then gives a driver error. I was able to enter them manually and it seems to work ok at the moment.

Thought?
