I just got my new PRT benchtop and spent the day setting it up. I had to buy a USB-serial adapter to connect to my laptop. I loaded the adapter drivers and the device manager says it's working properly. The yellow screen came up and I tried to load the firmware. When the 45 seconds were up I got an error message saying that everything is connected properly but there was a problem with transmission. I'll call tech support in the morning but I'd like to know what the problem is.

Phil,
Did you buy the Belkin brand by any chance? For whatever reason, they do not work well on a ShopBot. Buy an IOGear off of the web or directly from ShopBot.

I bought a Dynex. That is what Shopbot reccommended when I called them yesterday.

Shopbot tech support checked the Dynex adapter - didn't work. I ordered an IOGear adapter from them. Hopefully I'll be up and running on Monday.
