I am trying to combine the seperate dot for an "i" with the main part of the letter...Here's what I've been doing...I ungroup vectors...I drag the dot down till it overlaps just a hair with the main part of the letter...I use trim to cut away the overlapping lines which just leaves the outline of the letter...I select the entire object and group the vectors together...Now when I go and run a toolpath to cut this new combined letter i out I get an error message saying "there are both open & closed vectors" in my design...How do I correct this?

Jim,
You can't have overlapping vectors...in other words, weld them together or do this manually and cut out the overlapping part and piece it back together as one unit.

How exactly do I weld the two pieces together?

Nevermind I just figured out how to do it.

Thanks.
