How do I select a group of objects and copy them to a new location? I tried using the 'array copy' command but it didn't seem like what I was after.

If you select the group, then click once more, the selection handles should show up. Then hold Ctrl and click to drag, let up on the mouse and then Ctrl and you should now have a copy.

Or...

Select, copy, paste, select, drag.

Or...

Select, M, Ctrl and drag.

Might be some more combo's, but that should get you going.

You can left click and drag a box around the parts, or select one, and then select the rest while holding the shift key. When they are all selected [control + C] to copy.

Thanks, those are working. Is there a way to enter a location for the copied objects?

if you hold the crtl and shift key you get a copy that stays in the same x or y plane your dragging. this is handy since copy dumps the copy on top of what you copied.
