Hello,

I just bought a new computer for my shopbot and everything works except the dimensions. I tried cutting a square 2" x 2" and I got a 2-7/8" by 2-7/8" This shopbot used to run with ver 2 perfectly but I wasn't the person who originally installed this machine so I have no idea how to go about it.

Any help appreciated

What are your Unit Values set to at the moment?

Read from here (http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=312&post=18421#POST18421) down.....

I had the default units: 733.386, 733.386, 916.732 so what I did was that I checked the old computer and got the values... I had 127.324, 127.324, 1021.5. These values didn't work as I got a square that is less than 1/2" I think the Z axis value is correct though...

Try 509.296 in place of the 733.386

Take your desired 2", divide it by the actual 2.875", multiply by the current unit value of 733.386. The result is 510.5. Look in the table for the nearest value to 510.5 and find that 509.296 is a close match.

Hey Alvaro,

Multiply the old X and Y values by 4 and you should be OK...the unit values were divided by 4 in the DOS software.

It worked! Perfect match... Thanks!!!

I would like to know something if you are so kind to teach me... Why didn't it work with the old values? Also, I saw your list of values and it seems that you got all the possibilities... What kind of equation did you use to get these values?

Bill explained above that the DOS system divided the x and y unit values by 4.

As for the equation......I cheated. Once guys heard that I was attempting such a list, they mailed me some very concrete values. The gaps could be filled in by realising that everything works in finite "steps" - there can be no values in between, unless there are some very fancy gearboxes out there.

Hello
I am Miguel. In the factory in which work in Ecuador, have one PRT that operates with the version 2.29 of the shopbot software schemes.
For some days behind have problems:
The machine loses its coordinates suddenly and the motor Z descends in the course of a router in 2D as if it had router instructions in 3D.
It is sometimes listened the noise of the jump from the motors step to step.
The consultation is: it could be a virus that infected the PC or it is some defect in the interface of the control box.
Much will be appreciated they send their opinion and suggestions of how to correct the problem.

Sincerely

Miguel

Miguel,
Start by downloading and saving v2.39 here (http://www.shopbottools.com/files/Software/sb239sx_m.exe)

v2.39_m is the latest and best version of the DOS software. See if 2.39 fixes your problems before moving to the Windows software.
