It seems that neither the Vectric Cut3d nor PartWorks 3D allow for *TAPERED* ball nose bits.

Is there any plans to support the Tapered bits in the near future?

I have a local source for the 1/8" tapered Ballnose bits.
1/4 shank - 1.5" cutting length, 1/8" ballnose, 1 degree taper on each side.
These bits are strong, and seem great for for that deep 3D carving.

The only problem is that the Vectric software doesn't allow for the taper.

The parts cut OK, just need some sanding on those steep ridges.

Pat,

You can create most any profile including your tapered bit. First draw an exact half profile of your tapered bit. Then in the toolpath Database in Vcarve use the new bit feature. Under tool type select form tool. It's very quick and easy to do.

Frank,

THANKS...
That is way cool, but only works in VC (PartWorks) not PartWorks3D.

But still way cool.

Just be a bit patient Pat and I'm pretty confident your request will be answered sooner or (than) later.

Until, you may want to see if you can create the draft angle in your preferred 3D modeling application or ask for help for it. This way you will be able to use non-taper tool in deep recess.

Did some 3D Cutouts with the “beta” for the tapered bit (using a tapered engraving bit).
Everything seemed to work great!

Thanks Vectric (again).
