We have recently installed Partworks and now can no longer import any DXF file we create in AutoCad LT. I created basic shapes in Illustrator and they imported fine but anything I try and create in AutoCad, saved as a DXF file will not import into Partworks. Anybody have any ideas. It could be something simple that I'm just not seeing. We were using Part Wizard prior to this and were able to import DXF files no problem. HELP!

I have also had some problems importing from Vectorworks. the files get flattened and partworks can't interpret the paths.

try exporting from AutoCadLT as r14, and/or other backward saving for import into partworks

Have tried every possible save as option and none of them work. Eventually figured out that placing the DXF in Illustrator and then saving as an .ai file I can then import into Partworks. This however does take a little bit of time making sure files stay exactly the same size. We get a lot of drawings in from customers and will not be able to do this all the time.

Are you still having problems? I've imported dxf files from several AutoDesk products for quite some time but never into PartWorks. My experience is mainly with PartWizard, Vector and LT.

Can you use the "dxfout" (type in command line) function in LT?

I have exported files as Autocad R13 and have had good results

Sounds like PartWorks will work for me. Has anyone tried to import any 3d SolidWorks files?
Are you limited to importing 2d files?

I am having some trouble again. even with a rectangle, Partworks doesn't know what to do with it. I have been exporting from Vectorworks R14 binary, (Like i had always done with Part Wizard with hardly a hitch) does exporting as R14 text make any difference?

What are other people doing for exporting DXF files? which versions, etc. I don't really want to spend time exporting into other apps to get it to work. any ideas?

I use a current version of LT and even a package called AutoSketch and have never had any problems exporting to PartWizard. I have not installed my copy of PartWorks but it sounds like some are having trouble. I normally use the R12 dxf option.
I've never use the dxfout command but I may have to try it.
