I think I'm going crazy. Just bought Part Wizard and can't make it through the first tutorial... No matter what value I put in the "Start Depth" box (for v-bit carving), I get an error message.

The material depth is .6 inches. The tutorial instructs me to put .6" in the "Finish Depth" box - no such item as best I can tell.

Any value that I input >,<,or= .6 the wizard tells me "Surface/start depth is lower than material base." and won't calculate. Can somebody please tell me what I'm missing?

Ashley..I don't know anything about parts wizard,
so I am guessing "but" Try looking for a setting
for the material thickness preceding this setup..
it sounds like your material setup is set for something less than your cut...

Hi Ashley,

Leave the Start Depth field empty or zero. Part Wizard will calculate all of the zmoves for you. The tutorial is in error when it talks about the finish depth, the field does not exist. Except for the finish depth the tutorial is correct. Once you select a tool and enter a cut path name you should be able to calculate the tool path. Make sure you select a v-bit from the tool database and use a red colored font from the font list. I have not played with the start depth yet, but have had success with leaving it blank. I'm not at my machine that has Part Wizard loaded, but it is important to enter .001 in the tolerance field (about 2nd field in list), otherwise it will take a long time to calculate the path.

Hope this helps
Bob

Ashley, Bob is right. Sorry for the inconsistency here. We had to quickly adapt the manual from ArtCAM Insignia's manual in order to get Part Wizard to our customers, and we are still trying to track down a few inconsistencies. If you have any further troubles give us a ring and we will help you get on track.
