I am running the dos version of the Shopbot software with Windows 98. After about 20 minutes the screen goes blank and the Bot stops. I don't have a screen saver setup. What do I have to adjust or turn off to stop Windows from stopping my Bot.

Phil:

It's probably a power saving feature that you need to disable. I'm not at a WIN98 box right now, but if memory serves, you can go to the control panel and there should be somewhere to set your power profile (i.e. power down the monitor and/or hard drive after a specified period of time).

There may also be settings for power management in the computer's BIOS. Checking/changing the bios varies by manufacturer.

why not run directly in DOS?
That's what I do with no problems.
Dont go through Windows at all.

A lot of the power management programs are in the BIOS.

I hope that the later Win versions of the SB software tell the PC that it may not switch off.

I have a PRT96, just wondering why is the difference in the unit value in DOS version and in the windows version?

I had the DOS version before and i switched to Window 3.4.8 version. DOS version seems faster
is it true???

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It was in the Windows power management stuff.
