VCarve Pro versus Cut2D file sizes?

I tried searching the forums, but didn't find much info on Cut2D. I've been playing around with the trial versions of both Cut2D and the latest VCarve. For the exact same drawing file, why are Cut2D files significantly larger than the VCarve files? - 150MB vs. 7MB Just saving a simple edit to the Cut2D file can take up to 5minutes, whereas VCarve will save it in a few seconds.

Also, when I'm working with the file in Cut2D, just trying to delete say 100vectors will take several minutes in Cut2D. Additionally, when I just select 1 single vector, the program redraws all vectors and this becomes VERY tedious when there is say 500 vectors in the drawing. Is there any way that I can tell Cut2D to not redraw?

150MB sounds quite large for a typical Cut2D file.
If you can send the original import file in to me
at Vectric support, I will take a look at it and get back to you.

Thank you for sending me a copy of the file.
The problem seems mainly down to the fact that the
original DXF file has been saved in AutoCAD 2004 format.
I am afraid that the current version of Cut2D (1.100) only officially
supports AutoCAD R12 / R14 format.
(Although in practice, it will open the vast majority of R2000 files as well).

VCarve Pro 5 and Partworks 2 use a later DXF filter and so will read
DXF files up to and including 2008 format.
This is why you are not seeing the same problem in VCarve Pro.

I have emailed you a copy of the DXF file that I exported from VCarve Pro.
This rectifies the problem.

Autodesk has a free product called DWG Trueview. It has a conversion utility that will transform a later format AutoCAD file to either 2000 or 2004, depending on what you require.

I've been using it lately as many of our commercial customers have been sending us their engineering drawings in formats newer than 2004, which is the newest that our IntellCAD can read.
