This is a question I already know the answer to... but I'm about to go nuts so in case I already am nuts...

In Aspire/Vcarve I have always thought you enter the angle on the engraving bit as 1/2 the advertised bit angle. So a 30 degree bit would have 15 degrees entered.

See...

4395

Clearly Angle A is 1/2 the total bit angle.

The mfg, however, only specifies a bit as a "30 degree engraving bit"

i.e.

4396

I'm holding a 30 degree engraving bit 37-23 and 30 degrees is correct measured with a progractor for the total bit angle and I've entered 15 degrees for angle A.

Is this not correct?

Hi Robert,

The diagram looks like a 30 degree included angle engraving cutter with a small flat tip diameter.
So I agree that you should be entering the Side Angle (A) = 15 degrees with the associated Flat Dia (F).

I hope this helps,

Tony
