I'm doing 3D shaping using a Whiteside 1" radius core box bit with an overall length of 3". I need another 0.25" or so clearance between the z-carriage and my work. Is there an aftermarket collet for the PC 3.25 router that will give me a little more distance from the router? (I can't find a longer bit...)

You might try having bit custom made, The price is not as bad as you might think.

Greg,

Look into METAL cutting bits. They have things called XL length. I have a 1/2" spiral solid carbide bit that is 6" long! It has more than 3" of cutting length!

Find an MSC, J&L, or go to your local tool crib and tell them what you want. Better yet, take your current bit and show them what you have and tell them that you need an L or XL length cutter.
