Has anyone tried any methods for "slowing down" a router for drilling? I found this handy little speed control item at MLCS that may work, but I'm not sure if a router would have any torque left if it were slowed down to a reasonable drilling speed. I also see that it says that it will not work with a “slow start” router. I suppose the Porter Cable 3 1/4HP is a slow start unit???

I looked into this a while ago. Using a speed control on a laminate trimmer. At drilling speeds torque is a problem and cooling is an even bigger problem.
